Where on the jobsite your delivery will be staged
How that location lines up with install equipment and crew movement
Whether you’re showing up during a critical path pour or site lockdown
Whether local access restrictions (e.g., lane closures or crane windows) are being factored in
Distributors who understand these dynamics — and proactively coordinate them — reduce downstream chaos and protect the install team from preventable rework.
Here’s how to operationalize this on every job:
Confirm access zones in advance. Don’t assume the staging plan from the bid is still current. Get updated site logistics maps and confirm with the superintendent — not just the PM.
Request jobsite readiness confirmation. If install is scheduled for Monday, but the hoist isn’t available until Wednesday, you’re delivering risk, not value.
Sequence deliveries by elevation or quadrant. Glass deliveries staged in reverse order often lead to the wrong panels being installed first — and having to come out later.
PMs will rarely call out “access issues” in the project closeout report — but they will remember who caused them. Conversely, the distributor who consistently delivers on time, to the right spot, in sync with site operations becomes part of the trusted circle.
