Forecasts shift faster than PO cycles

Expedited freight to meet install deadlines

Smarter JIT: Contextual, Not Universal
Instead of pure JIT, apply a hybrid model:
Use JIT for high-turn, low-risk SKUs
Maintain buffer or forward-staged inventory for critical-path materials
Pre-load job-specific bundles for projects with tight install dates
JIT isn’t the goal—it’s a tool. The goal is reliable, profitable delivery.
Culture Shift: When JIT Becomes Dogma
Ask your ops team:
Are we overusing “JIT” to justify risky cuts?
What’s our cost of failure on key accounts?
Do we know where JIT helps vs. where it hurts?
If the answer is “we treat everything the same,” you’re not lean—you’re exposed.
