It wasn’t the delay—it was the scramble it caused.
Late approvals cost jobs more than you think. When your submittal is still “under review” two days before install, or your field support info doesn’t match what QA has on file, you shift the risk to the PM. And they don’t forget it.
Where late approvals create damage:
QA inspection is delayed—materials sit idle
Install crews start without written approval—creating rework risk
Submittal changes don’t reach the field—causing confusion and stoppages
How PMs remember you:
“We had everything on site—but nothing approved.”
“Install paused because no one cleared the updated guide.”
“They caused the delay, but we had to answer for it.”
Distributors who avoid the blame game:
Submit approval packages 2–3 weeks before field need
Include install implications—not just product data
Follow through with QA, field supers, and buyers—not just procurement leads
It’s not enough to send the right forms. You need to close the loop before the jobsite starts making its own decisions.
