Making Post-Sale Surveys Worth Responding To

By Glazix | May 30, 2025

Because No One Wants to Fill Out a Form That Doesn’t Help Them

Post-sale surveys are a common tactic in industrial distribution. But too often, they’re seen as checkbox exercises—generic, boring, and disconnected from real improvement.

The result? Low response rates. Vague feedback. And no actionable insight.

Here’s how to create post-sale surveys that B2B buyers in glass, ceramic, and refractory sectors will actually fill out—and that your team can actually use.

1. Keep It Short—and Promise That Up Front

Buyers are busy. Long surveys feel like punishment. Let them know:

“This will take less than 60 seconds—and will help us serve you better next time.”

Limit to 3–5 questions, max.

2. Ask Targeted, Buyer-Centric Questions

Instead of:

“How was your experience?”

Ask:

“Did your materials arrive when and how you expected?”

“Was our documentation clear and complete?”

“Would you feel confident placing a similar order again?”

These questions yield practical feedback you can act on.

3. Time the Survey Right

Send it:

1–2 days after delivery confirmation

From a real person (e.g., account manager), not a generic email

With a subject line like: “Quick question about your recent delivery”

Timing and tone increase response rates—especially in high-touch B2B sales.

4. Make Open Comments Optional, Not the Core

Buyers hate being forced to write essays. Use 1–10 ratings or thumbs-up/down formats for speed.

Then offer:

“Anything you’d like to share about this order?”

This invites feedback without requiring it.

5. Close the Loop—and Let Them Know You Did

If a buyer flags a problem, reply with:

“Thanks again for the feedback. Based on your input, we’ve added crating spec sheets to all future shipments of SKU 9912.”

Even if they don’t respond again, they’ll remember that you listen—and act.

: Don’t Just Collect Feedback—Earn It

Your post-sale survey isn’t a formality. It’s a signal. It tells your buyer:

“We care about your experience”

“We’re willing to improve”

“Your voice drives how we work”

Make it fast. Make it focused. And make sure it leads to better service next time.
