The install delay wasn’t caused by specs—it was caused by vendors who didn’t talk.
Glass and refractory projects often involve multiple vendors touching the same system. When those vendors don’t align—on compatibility, timing, or responsibilities—the PM becomes the referee. And that’s a red flag they don’t forget.
What it looks like:
Adhesive system from one vendor isn’t rated for the glass panels from another
Refractory board supplier blames hardware supplier for misaligned anchors
QA can’t approve install because two specs contradict—and no one owns the fix
PMs don’t ask for miracles. But they expect cohesion. When coordination fails, they lose trust not just in the system—but in the suppliers behind it.
Distributors who step up:
Act as a communication bridge, even when they’re not the primary vendor
Flag compatibility issues before bid, not after award
Own the fix—even if the issue came from someone else’s SKU
You don’t need to supply everything. You just need to act like you’re accountable for everything that touches your material.
