Even when a refractory or glass install goes smoothly, missing documentation can wreck closeout. QA signoffs, warranty activation, and even milestone payments depend on traceability and records. When they’re missing, it’s the PM who pays the political price.
You won’t see it in the spec, but you’ll hear it:

“We can’t verify install date—this will hold up payment.”
