It wasn’t the delay. It was the silence—and the scramble—that followed.
PMs expect some level of delivery disruption. Weather, routing, and supply chain issues are part of the job. What they won’t tolerate? Poor communication, missing context, or being left to manage the fallout alone.
You’ll hear it in the trailer:
“We had 20 people standing by and no update.”
“They said it shipped, but gave no timeline.”
“No rigging plan. No point of contact. Just a truck at the gate and chaos.”
Distributors that convert delays into loyalty:
Flag risk windows on high-lead items during the quote phase
Alert field ops the day before, not during the missed window
Provide backup plans (partial drops, local supply partners, sequencing shifts)
Delays are logistical. The loss of trust? That’s relational. Fix the communication loop, and you keep your place in the PM’s preferred stack—even when things go wrong.
