You’ve delivered everything. The job looks great. But the only thing that matters now is this: does it pass inspection?
Final inspections are the quiet stress test that buyers use to decide who they trust again. And for glass and ceramics distributors, being part of a clean, smooth inspection handoff is one of the most valuable reputation-builders you can control.
Buyers might not say it, but they remember:
Who provided the right certifications without chasing
Who labeled materials so the inspector could verify product class on-site
Who flagged field substitutions so there were no last-minute surprises
Here’s how to own final inspection prep — and separate yourself from “just another vendor”:
Closeout packets ready at handoff. Include batch-specific testing data (ASTM, CSA), fire-rating labels, and install certifications. Don’t wait for the PM to ask — be first.
Tag specialty materials in the field. Use window stickers, etched ID, or printed install legends so inspectors know which product is where.
Flag VE changes or RFI-driven swaps. If you shifted from Ceramic Model A to Model B, include a short one-pager that proves code compliance and design intent match.
Stay available for walkthroughs. Field teams get nervous during inspection. If they can call you with a spec question or labeling clarification, you just saved them a day — and bought yourself long-term trust.
Think of inspection prep as your exit interview with the buyer. Did you leave them with confidence? Or with clean-up work?
The last mile doesn’t start at delivery — it ends when the inspector signs off and the job closes out clean. Be the reason that happens, and you’ll be the one invited back.
